Slow GUI performance and scaling options

Hi!

I have vmware workstation 15 Pro on Surface book (i7-6600u, GTX 960M, 16 Gb RAM), and installed Fedora 28 VM. The properties of the VM are 2 cores, 3D acceleration, 8 GB ram, 3GB maximum used as video memory. I also enabled discrete graphics.

I notice very slow VM GUI performance. It seems to me that a reason is a large resolution in VM display settings - almost 3000*2000. However, when I try to reduce it, then because of some scaling I become to see only a part of the VM screen, which makes working impossible.

Could you please answer the following questions:

1) Is my guess about the reason for slow GUI performance (large VM display resolution) correct?

2) How to change the VM display resolution without scaling?
