NPIV in VMWARE may need to enhanced. As per the NPIV functionality in VMWARE, storage need to be presented to ESXi and the VM-NPIV. In this case NPIV-VM data is not secure, which can be tampered from ESXi. Statement from VMWARE document: ——— Make sure that physical HBAs on the host have access to all LUNs that are to be accessed by NPIV-enabled virtual machines running on that host. ——— NPIV functionality may need to be enhanced: 1. Storage need to be visible to NPIV-VM only. 2. Current functionality can be used as optional.
